What is DistroBuddy?

DistroBuddy is a user-friendly music and video distribution platform that helps independent artists, labels, producers, and managers distribute their releases to major streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and 150+ other platforms worldwide. You keep 100% of your copyrights and up to 90% of royalties.

How much does DistroBuddy cost?

DistroBuddy offers an annual subscription for £9 / $12 USD. This gives you unlimited releases (singles, EPs, or full albums) for the year, with no per-release fees.

Do I keep my rights and royalties?

Yes. You retain 100% ownership of your copyrights. You keep 90% of the royalties generated (we take a small 10% platform fee for distribution and services).

Distribution & Releases

How long does it take for my music to go live?

Releases typically appear on streaming platforms within 2–5 business days after approval. You can schedule a future release date for pre-save/pre-order campaigns.

What file formats and requirements do you accept?

• Audio: WAV files only (max 250 MB per track). Supported bit depths/sample rates: 16-bit/44.1kHz or 24-bit/44.1kHz, 48kHz, 96kHz, 192kHz. No 32-bit files.

• Artwork: JPG or PNG, square (minimum 3000x3000 pixels recommended), max 10 MB. No text links, social handles, or explicit content that violates store guidelines.

• Metadata must be complete (title, artist, credits, etc.).

Do you provide free UPC and ISRC codes?

Yes! Free UPC (for releases) and ISRC (per track) codes are included with every new release. For re-releases from another distributor, use the original ISRC codes.

Can I distribute videos too?

Yes. We support music videos and other video content with monetization options on YouTube, Vevo, and social platforms. Pricing starts at $20 per video.

Can I add multiple artists or a record label?

Absolutely. You can add multiple artists to a release and include your own label name (or use options like Latigo Music Group / DistroBuddy, LLC).

Royalties & Payments

When do I get paid?

Royalties are credited to your DistroWallet around the 16th of each month (or the following Monday if it falls on a weekend). Withdrawals are available once you reach the low $10 minimum.

How do I receive my money?

Direct bank transfer.

Payouts are usually processed within 1–3 business days.

What about payment splits for collaborators?

Yes — automatic royalty splits are built into the dashboard. You can assign percentages to featured artists, producers, writers, etc., and payments go directly to their wallets.

Do you offer YouTube Content ID and social monetization?

Yes. Enable monetization on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms. You can also opt music into TikTok’s Commercial Music Library (request via support after delivery).

Yes — free pre-save and pre-order campaigns are included.

What analytics and insights do I get?

Real-time streaming data, Spotify for Artists integration (claim your profile directly from the dashboard), territorial insights, audience metrics, and more to help plan your next release or tour.

Can I set TikTok preview start time?

Yes. You can choose exactly where your track preview starts on TikTok.

Do you support territorial rights control?

Yes. You can select/deselect territories on a per-continent level for each release.

How do I get started?

Sign up on the DistroBuddy page, upload your release, pay the annual fee, and submit. Our team reviews metadata quickly.

What kind of support do you offer?

24/7 dedicated artist support via ticket/email. Fast response times for distribution, technical, or royalty questions.

What if I already have music distributed elsewhere?

You can distribute new releases or re-uploads using original ISRCs. Contact support for takedown assistance if switching distributors.

Is there an affiliate/partner program?

Yes. Producers, managers, and labels can earn through our Partner Program. We will accept your submission if you guarantee sign ups. Contact us for details.

Technical & Policy

What are the minimum credit requirements?

DSPs require detailed track-level credits (main artist, featured, writers, producers, etc.). Our dashboard guides you through this.

Can I distribute explicit content?

Yes, but you must flag it correctly during upload so stores can apply the appropriate parental advisory.

What happens if my release is rejected?

We’ll notify you with the reason (e.g., metadata issues, artwork problems). Fix and resubmit — no extra charge.
